Liminka Bay is one of the most important bird wetlands in Northern Europe. In winter, the vast open landscape transforms into a peaceful, snow-covered coastal scenery where the sky feels endless and the silence is truly profound.
During this winter day experience, you will explore the unique coastal nature on snowshoes and learn how locals move safely across snowy terrain. Depending on the conditions, we may also try traditional Finnish winter activities such as kick sledding. Your guide will share stories about the bay’s rich birdlife, local culture and life by the northern sea.
Winter at Liminka Bay is about slowing down. The frozen shoreline, the wide horizon and the crisp sea air create a rare sense of space and calmness. With a bit of luck, you may even spot wintering birds or animal tracks in the snow.
After outdoor activities, we warm up with coffee or tea near the Liminka Bay Visitor Centre or at a cozy outdoor fire spot. Guests can also take part in a small nature-inspired workshop and create a simple handmade souvenir from natural materials – a memory of the northern coast to take home.
Program includes: Activities as described above, services of our English speaking guides, coffee/tea and sweet pastry.
OPTIONAL SERVICES:
Soup lunch: Salmon or mushroom or vegetable soup, bread, water and juice.
3 course dinner: Mushroom or vegetable soup, salmon cooked by open fire, baked potatoes and salad, lingonberry dream, bread, water and juice.
